Paul Cronin Studios offers a wide range of skills built around the marine industry.
My passion is messing about in boats. When I was in first grade, my mother was told: “We have a problem with Paul. Every drawing day he draws the same thing, a sailboat at sunset.” (My mother did not see a problem, thanks Mom I miss you every day.)
I started Paul Cronin Studios in 1992, and have been providing my clients with a mix of skills (naval architecture, consulting, coaching, video and photography) ever since. They are the same skills that little boy used to draw his sailing at sunset pictures.
By the time I was fifteen I was running race boats for the summer. Then after high school I ran race boats, and boat yards, while racing and trekking on my own boats.
In 1987 I decided it was time for a formal degree in Naval Architecture. I graduated at the top of my class and my first job was in the Pearson Yachts design/engineering office. From there I went to Pedrick Yacht Designs, and then back to school for more structural engineering. Next I joined the America’s Cup winning team America^3 as part of the shore crew, and Young America Cup team later.

Coaching has been a part of my business for decades, helping Olympic sailors, championship teams, shorthanded sailors, and club level racers achieve their goals, and of course improving the experience for cruisers and trekkers.
