Archambault 31 Busy Refit

Misty Cliffs at Block Island

After my website was hacked I am slowly staring to put my photography back on the site. Not as a store but simple galleries. Hope you enjoy it, at Photography.

This is such a great time of year in New England, days getting longer, water temp coming up, daylight savings, all good.

It has been a busy time in the PCS Boat Spa this winter.  Kincora has another six weeks before I take her to the boat yard, and start the bottom, topsides, and finish up the rig work.  The list of 130 jobs that looked daunting early November has now come down to 28 left.  Working at that pace has me behind on shows.  I have shot lots of video clips, but Episode 61 is taking second place to the job list, all in good time.

Paul Driving Pogo 30 in France
My visit to the Pogo Factory in France

Great to see how shorthanded sailing has been growing.  But be careful in your choice of boat, marketing does not make a great shorthanded boat, sailors with lots of single handed experience make great shorthanded boats.   Of course the French are decades ahead in this category.

Class 9.50 I sailed in France

If you have not checked out the JPK 1030, give it a look; to me this is the cream of the crop.  Yes, there is the SunFast 3300, which is also very nice, but to me JPK has been the leader for a long time for design, and build quality.  Just look at how many races the JPK 1010 has won.  The Dehler 30 looks very interesting, but I have not had a chance to see one in person.  A lot of smart people were involved in this design; sailing one would be a treat.  The Dehler’s I have been on at Dusseldorf Boat Show are well put together.  And the J/99 is gaining a little traction, another boat I have not seen in person, but a couple of features turn me off.  But I am sure the boat will still do well, Jeff J besides being a great person, knows how to sell boats, and has a very loyal following.  But don’t forget if you own a great boat now, setting it up for shorthanded can be completed by you in the off-season. Used Archambault 31’s are an excellent deal, and perfect for shorthanded. It will cost you a quarter of one of the above boats.

A31 setup for crewed and Transquadra Race in France

Still looking for single handed sailors who want to be part of training camps out of Narragansett Bay.  Hope to have at least one each month this summer. There are a few all ready interested, and we will be setting up dates soon.  Contact me and lets see if this will work for you?

Have Fun and less then two months to be sailing.

See you soon, Paul
