Day 5 from Condor

Yesterday afternoon we hit some light areas while squalls passed by on the wrong side.  Then just prior to dinner the breeze picked up sun came out and we started making miles.  Great ride into the dark.  Came on watch to Jim’s comment ” It sucks up here go back to bed.”  So I went on deck to 19kts of wind, 1.5 pulling hard, moon setting, and full stars, and milkyway looking amazing.

Then cloud cover came wind went up and riding the Condor on the edge all night down the black waves.  Top speed Buzz 18.2.  Avg during the night into the 13’s.

Class 40′ s really are amazing boats to sail.  Why are there not 20 out here.  Easy to sail hard and great ocean boats.

Quote from Brent;  “I was just hit in the chest by a jumping squid”.  Ah life at sea

Today great sunrise and breeze back down to 16.  Back up on deck with a coming squall and 1/2 way party at dinner.  Now the race is run hard and run fast.

Over due on sleep since last night is was harder then normal.
