Sailing East headed to Edgertown, September 2015. Great sails Kame!

Last Saturday we had a snowy cold January day. So I sat down and went through summer sailing footage from Kincora, my Express 27.  Always fun for me to go back through all the footage from the summer trekking.

Each summer in late July and early August I take two weeks with my buddy John Manderson who owns an Olson 30, Kristianna.  We start in Jamestown, RI together and have a blast trekking through southern New England, then running up the coast to Blue Hill, Maine.  Each day we choose the best destination based on the weather and race each other. Last summer we used our jibs only twice.  Kites every day, which is perfect for our Santa Cruz built “Fast is Fun” mini sleds. Each day we arrive and raft up, or use our SUP to paddle to the other boat.  We cook dinner on our Jet Boil stoves and enjoy a glass of wine.  To us this is what sailing fun fast boats is all about.

Once in Blue Hill, I left John and sailed west through Penobscot Bay to Journey’s End Marina in Rockland, Maine.  There I hauled out and drove Kincora back to RI.  Now that is the way to go upwind, 65mph on Rt. 95.

The summer had a dozen other treks I did on my own pushing from before sunrise well into the night.  Lots of great memories.

Here is a short video with a bunch of clips I put together.  These are not taken with my handycam and a pole cam I keep on the boat.  Hope you enjoy the ride and a taste of summer trekking in January.
