Living My Passions

Make-work and play the same thing.  This has been a goal of mine since I started working as a kid.  And when you have your own company like I do, the work is never done so I have set myself up to make work be play.  This is the reason the site is called, “Were Video Meets Boats”; I am lucky to mix two of my passions as my business.

Sure not every day is roses but most of them make me smile and I love what I do.   Who you work with makes all the difference, so for me having great clients is a must.  I am very fortunate with my business to have built long-term relationships with a bunch of great clients.

Nailing the shot

I have been filming and shooting stills since the early 70’s.  Filming on a16mm camera that was my dad’s pride and joy.  Remember when dad brought out that camera on his shoulder and held a big row of spotlights at Christmas?  Back then we did the actual cuts to the film and had home movie nights that the whole family loved.  I still look at the footage, which has been transferred to VHS since.  Wow even VHS sounds old.

And for shooting stills we had our own dark room under the basement stairs to develop our 35mm stills.  I would go to the state beach after high school with two of my brothers and shoot all kinds of fun stills.  Photography in high school was a blast.  Shooting stills on the family summer sailboat cruise really started it for me.  Minolta was a brand of choice way back then, what that camera would look like now.  I am happy to say I still love it and feel lucky to make my living this way.  To quote my sister who is a great photographer and artist, “it is fun to capture light”.
