Ocean Race Newport Start, with gallery
I had the opportunity to join my wife Carol Newman Cronin as she commentated the in-port race and start of leg 5 of the Ocean Race. I was brought in to shoot some stills for the Jamestown Tour Boat Coastal Queen. We did the same thing for the Bermuda Race start and it is a great time for all. There were 76 happy customers enjoying the fantastic view where Captain Dan placed us. And the great info from Carol.
Very special to have the second deck to get a view over the spectator fleet. We were far enough away that I used a 600mm lens, and a 16-35mm for the onboard shots.
Bottom of the post is the gallery of shots from the day. It was light and you could not follow the fleet so at times these shots are a mile or two away. 11th Hour Racing did go close by for their jibe to the in-port finish and heading out to sea for leg 5.
Sail Newport, all the great vendors, volunteers, live music, town of Newport, State of Rhode Island, and of course the fans, did a fantastic job.
Summer is just about here, we have had a lot going on so sorry for the post delay. A few more in the works.
Have Fun Every Day! Follow the race at Ocean Race, these amazing sailors/athletes, and boats through this race. Be a fan support the teams.
Be kind, be safe, and see you soon, Paul
