Pacific Downwind Racing

Exciting news; I am going downwind in the Pacific again.  Last time was in 2012 on California Condor with a fantastic team in the Pacific Cup from San Francisco to Kaneohe, Hawaii.  See some onboard clips of the race video below. Picture is Condor team at the dock just after our finish at sunrise, love all the smiles.

This time I am sailing with great friend Liz Baylis on the Santa Cruz 50 Oaxaca, owner Michael Moradzedeh, and a very talented team.  In 2019 they won their class and were 6th overall, very impressive.  See great post by Dee Caffari crew member.

I have always wanted to do the TransPac, and what a great ride, a Bill Lee Santa Cruz 50 designed for the race.

We will also do the California Offshore Week down the coast from San Francisco in three legs.  First leg is San Fran to Monterey; I did this once before on California Condor Class 40, great fun with fast deep reach, and then a jib in.  Second leg is Monterey to Santa Barbara.  And third is Santa Barbara to San Diego.  So a full week with a lot of miles to gel a team, and have a blast down the coast.

Kincora is coming along with only a few jobs left to finish in the next three weeks, I will need all the time to launch on 10 May.  I have a lot of great b-roll, with a few shows coming once I get the boat sailing for the final clips needed, with narrative to finish the shows.

As I say to Carol just sitting around drinking Bud from a can watching soaps.

Be safe, have fun, and sail fast.  See you soon, Paul
