Palm Beach Boat show and Vacation

Ah the New England winter gave us one more reminder how fast it can change on Monday 14 March. I was in Raleigh, NC visiting family on my way north and held off a day. So the last leg of my drive was easy in clear NW wind and no snow. Final trip of the winter south and my green hunk of Chevy steel is back in Jamestown. The van performed flawlessly with the exception of having to replace the battery in Florida.

Ah, three SUP, two windsurfers, six sails, two paddles, loads of support gear.

This last trip was ten days with some vacation mixed in. Yes, can you believe it vacation with my wife on the beach? We are not beach people; to us the beach is a path to get into the water. But we spent three days on the beach in Bonita Springs while visiting friends. We did use my travel and inflatable SUP while on the beach. We also went to the Bonita Blues Festival, had great dinners with lots of laughing, and enjoyed fantastic weather.

Then we put the band back together at the Palm Beach Boat Show, I was filming/directing with John Burnham and Lenny Rudow. It was great to be spending a day and evening prior with the team doing what we do best together. It was our first time at Palm Beach Boat Show. We liked the show, less crowds, great location, and some great small boats. So expect to see some new First Look videos from 18-110 footers soon.

Here are a couple of pictures of me filming Lenny taken by John. The first is the new Mares 45 Yacht Fish catboat. Check out Booboo the small white dog that is the boats mascot. He was friendly little guy who came when you called him for a nice petting and a few soft words. Next is Lenny on the new Edgewater 248CX. Lenny is going over the construction of the hard top.

Also on my trip north I added two new 12’-6” & 14’ downwind SUP’s to my collection and a second Quickblade paddle for downwinders. Wow, five paddleboards and three paddles now, time to sell a few. More on SUP next week. Including the boards and paddles for sale.
