  • Episode 49, Singlehanded Reefing in 1-min

This is a question I get often: “how can I depower quickly and safely?”  Let me go through though the method I have successfully used with many types of boats.  A few items you will need for this method. A good pilot All mainsheet controls easy to use from the steering position. Mainsail slide system (this will not work with just bolt rope) sees this episode for a great system to convert your boltrope.  Continuous reefing lines Jammers for halyard and reef lines, Biggest problem I see shorthanded is we don’t reef early, or often enough.  I tell my self…

  • Episode 47, Foil Board Repair

As we sit in the middle of a three day Nor’Easter here in Rhode Island, my foiling time is cut back, so lets talk board repair. First my Slingshot foil gear is great. Well built, not far off plug an play. Letting me progress with my foil windsurfing learning curve. Of course it is not just Slingshot, there are the Sailworks Flyer sails, with their Flightstick mast that give me the control and proper shape. Also I want to give a huge thank you to Andy at Wind-NC. Andy is the dealer were I purchased the board, foils, and other…

  • US Olympic Sailing, Broken

This is not something I do very often, but it is important if you care about the US Olympic Sailing Teams success. I have my thoughts after coaching US and other countries Olympic sailors, but I do not want to throw a wrench in the works. So instead I will send you to a post, not by a reporter who has just their opinion, but someone who was on the inside for 16 years, and has represented US Sailing sailing in the Olympics. Read this post. See you soon, Paul
