BoatU.S. Hurricane Series
Early July I traveled to the Chesapeake Bay with the BoatU.S. editorial team, and Lenny Rudow of Fish Talk fame. A great team and we always have a good time working together. This series, Lenny interviews the head of Geico BoatU.S. CAT Hurricane team, Mike McCook. Mike outlines how to choose a marina, prepping your boat, and after the storm. There are also other videos in the growing hurricane play list. This series is chock full of great information, and very timely while we are in hurricane season. These are not my normal edits, with the supplied photos I used…

Wickford Art Festival
This was my second year at the Wickford Art Festival. Last year my neighbor, and great ceramics Jillian Barber talked me into going, along with Tory Cory who owns Fuller Gallery in Jamestown. What a great experience both days 13-14 July. The crowds were fun, and the people who came in my booth were appreciating my photography. What a pleasure to discuss the stories of each photograph with interested people. And to the buyers who made this show a huge success, Thank You! I look forward to seeing a picture where you huge the framed work. Or were you put…

Episode 45, Next Step
Wow, has it been a long time since my last episode. Sorry for the delay but commercial video/photography, coaching, and consulting work has been cranking. All good! So we have a new direction for In and Out of the Boat Shop. Still shorthanded sailing and high performance sailing. How can it not be that is my passion. But to see the new twist you need to watch episode 45, Next Step. Very excited! I would like to congratulate my shorthanded buddy John Manderson. John is a great short handed sailor and has the passion. John sailed the Bermuda 1-2 return…

Protect our Coastal Ecosystem
Last week I had the great pleasure of filming a second time in Beaufort, NC. Back in November we did our first few days filming this cleanup effort see Rachel Carson Reserve. In November we filmed a full day of interviews, local clean up in the harbors, along with the Rachel Carson Reserve. Then I put together a video for the TowBoatU.S. Foundation Conference to show the towers there is more then just towing. This time was to film more b-roll of cleanup, debris, so we can build the story to educate boaters and have footage to match the interviews. …

Aerial Video and Stills
Overview shot of Governors Island Ferry This past week I had a reunion with my buddy Jeff Codman who owns RI Aerials. If you have read this blog for years you will know I spent a lot of time flying with Jeff, filming and taking stills. So it was nice to be back in the back seat with his Aerial Exposures Gyro grabbing video clips, and then out the left door shooting stills of the same boat. R44 with life jackets on the skids for all the flying over water we do. FS7 MK2 on Gyro with seat out. One…

Vacation/Snipe Pan Am Trials
The last week in March I took a rare vacation with my wife. When I say rare, we go to regattas and take off sailing often, but we never consider those vacations, just normal lifestyle. Now vacationing is something we are not very good at. To sit around and not be active every day on the water, and working which we both love is not easy. So this was a planned shut down week. Fun yes, but there is a reason we do not do it often. I rented an efficiently for the week in the Keys on a private…

Common Thread
This is a repost from six years ago. I felt it was good at this time in the world to have a nice positive post about how music is a common thread to everyone. Might not be the same music but having music in your life enriches you. Besides it is the time of year when I get back in the studios with shorter days and play. I have hooked up with a great bass guitar player and we will be jamming this winter. Maybe add others. I love being in the song. Enjoy. Paul We all have a common…
