Paul Cronin Studios New Site
Carol capturing the goof balls having a good laugh after finishing a boat video. Welcome to my new website. The blog/news is now on the home page. There is also a store to sell my photography and beyond. Sorry about the edit errors in my last post, not the best attention to detail on that one. At least it made my wife chuckle. There are now three link pages above the menus. In and Out of the Boat Shop show is coming back next week with a new episode. And will shortly change direction, to new and exciting adventures. So…

UBI FR125 Furler & Doyle Code 0, Episode 30
Wow, hard to believe this weekend is Labor Day Holiday. Summer has flown by as usual. Hope you had a lot of time on the water sailing. We still have a few great months in Southern New England to get out and trek some miles, with less crowds. Kincora has been putting on the miles, with more trips planned. Really is a great boat, well built, well designed, and pretty well rigged. This episode is a while coming since it was important for me to put miles on the furler, and Code 0, before I felt ready to film the…

B&G Triton 2 and Zuse 3 setup, Episode 29
I hope you are all enjoying the dog days of summer in the northern hemisphere, and getting ready for your season down under. This past week I had one of my followers from In and Out of The Boat Shop, Vimeo channel send a very nice message. Duncan Hayward from Australia, asked if I would show how I am setting up my instrument readouts, for shorthanded sailing. Great video idea Duncan. I dove in the next day and recorded the footage on the mooring, spicing up the video with a few sailing shots and hopefully answered Duncan’s question. If not…

Kincora Deck Painting Problems
Well, I have to eat my words from the last post. I thought one part Interlux Brightside would be fine for the smooth surface on the deck. It did not work for a few reasons. Let me explain. I went back after the first coat of Brightside and the paint had a reaction with the gelcoat surface. There were small air bubbles everywhere. Gelcoat had been washed and wiped down prior and was sanded to 220 grit. But there were bubbles that popped up five min after the tip stroke. Until that five min it looked great. So I…

Fast in Miami, and fast in Indiana
With the deep cold and record snow fall at home in Rhode Island it was great to fly South and film a few days at the Miami Boat Show. I have been filming this show for years and the manufactures pull out all the stops launching cool gear and their hot new boats. With a lot of the boats in the water we get a chance to film a few running which is a blast, and my forte, be it sail or power. Check out this boats.com First Look Video of the 2015 Mercury Verado 400 Racing. There are four…

Express 27 trailer rebuild
When I purchased Kincora I placed the trailer value at $800 which I think was accurate. Knowing the trailer was rusted and would need a lot of work to be safe an pass my road worthy inspection. Before the trailer could be rebuilt I needed to get it home from Maine with the boat. This required the brakes to be removed, which the previous owner kindly set up with the local garage along with a few quick fixes. The brake lines had been cut an I feared going down Rt. 95 and having the brakes seize up would be a…

Dusseldorf Boat Show 2015
Just back from a fantastic time at the Dusseldorf boat show. If you are not familiar with this show it is the biggest indoor boat show in the world. Seventeen display halls with different product in each hall. I was at the show filming new product releases. We shot 44 videos in three days of filming. Yup, it was a fun, flat out schedule. Over the last 47 years I have been to most of the boat shows in North America and a bunch in Europe. This show has the most diverse range of products and some of the coolest…
